The best part about going to a volleyball tournament is the people watching. There are the players: some hyper, some super focused, some that look a little confused by the maze of courts we're sitting in. And then there are the spectators. The parents, the grandparents, siblings, and friends of the girls on the court. Many of us are on our phones, waiting for our team to play again. One woman is knitting. A coach, chomping his gum, tells each girl where to stand between every volley. A mom kneels on the edge of the court, behind the coach, and yells instructions to her daughter. There are hundreds of stories here.
