Why is it that late at night my brain suddenly wakes up? I can be exhausted the whole day, but come bedtime I start to think of all the things I need to do the next day, what I should have already completed but didn't, funny things I heard at school, complex problems I still don't know how to fix. My body is exhausted, but my brain keeps saying, "Oh, come on! I need you to think about all of these things right now! We can't wait until tomorrow!"
i heard today from one of my students that our bodies get used to the amount of sleep we get as children, so even as adults we need lots of sleep. Maybe I should go back in time and tell my younger self to sleep a little more so my brain would get used to some sleep.
